Suburban Gothic

A subversive genre that punctures the pristine facade of middle-class domesticity to reveal the repressed anxieties, terrors, and rot hidden underneath.

The thrill of uncovering the rot beneath a perfect facade. A creeping dread that the ordinary is a mask for something sinister, and the unsettling realization that the most terrifying things can hide in plain sight within the home or neighborhood.
