Sacrifice & Cost
A structural argument insisting that meaningful outcomes—victory, love, or redemption—require a permanent, irreversible, and heavy price paid in what a character cannot afford to lose.
The gut-wrenching feeling of watching a beloved character pay an unbearable price for a greater good, knowing the loss is absolute and the outcome, however positive, is forever tainted by what was irrevocably given up.
