The Patterns of Chaos

Commander Bron is placed on a planet to impersonate a famous scientist and discover the coordinates of a rival space empire, the Destroyers. He is equipped with implants allowing a monitoring team to see, hear, and communicate with him across interstellar distances. The plot involves the study of the entropic patterns of Chaos, enabling accurate event predictions. Bron, Earth, and the Destroyers become targets of an extraterrestrial murder campaign originating 700 million years ago. He unites the Earth and Destroyer fleets to confront the aliens, discovering his destiny is intertwined with theirs.
