Folk Horror

Rooted in the beliefs, isolated geography, and social structures of rural or pre-modern communities where ancient pagan traditions, superstitions, and communal sacrifices are living, dangerous forces.

The dread of being an outsider in a place where ancient, insular traditions hold sway, and where the community's collective logic dictates terrifying rituals and sacrifices. It's the chilling realization that the horror is not an invasion, but the very fabric of the community itself.
