Description

Driving twenty-six miles of tunnel beneath the English Channel was a bold undertaking for Europe on the edge of war. The tunnel promised to be the proudest engineering coup in British history—and threatened to end Germany's dream of imperial conquest. For the chief of the project, the tunnel meant uprooting a dangerous band of saboteurs composed of German agents and Irish revolutionaries. For a German military attache operating from his London embassy, it meant carrying out a mission of destruction. And for a young Lord of the Admiralty named Winston Churchhill, it meant one desperate chnace to salvage victory from the growing specter of defeat.
