Description
Stunned by the suspicious death of her only cousin Julie, wealthy entrepreneur Kate Berrisford travels to Rio de Janeiro. Julie had dedicated her life to the rescue of street-children, who, hunted by death squads, lived in gangs in sewers and derelict buildings where the gun and knife ruled. The Chief of Police, a strong supporter of Julie's work had been murdered and Kate is convinced that the two deaths are somehow connected. Amidst the excitement and glamour of the carnival capital Kate discovers a hidden world of squalor, indifference, conspiracy and treachery where human life is of little value and her own is threatened.
