The Corruption Arc
A pervasive narrative device in which an ostensibly virtuous character undergoes a gradual transformation into a malevolent or morally compromised individual, often precipitated by a series of internalized contradictions, external pressures, or traumatic events that disrupt their moral compass and catalyze a downward spiral into darkness.
The thrill of watching a hero's slow slide into villainy, a compelling character study of how good intentions can curdle under pressure, and the exploration of moral ambiguity when the lines between right and wrong blur.
